Emmett Till, because in our class we didn't really know what happened ti that kid and when we saw the video in class and I think it shocked a lot of us how mean people could be back in those days. People will never forget about Emmet Till because he was beaten so badly he died from it. A lot of people came to the funeral because it was such a big story. I just know that I will never forget Emmet Till's Death, it was a bad event in history.

JFK assassination because I think he was a good president he liked everyone and he tried to help everyone out as best as he could. Also people saw him and his family as the perfect family and everyone wanted to be like him and also he was a great speaker and leader. Finally when he died everyone felt like that lost a father figure and role model and every person in America wondered why that would kill a person that was so honorable and such a good leader and did so much for our country. Kennedy will always be remembered as a great president and an honorable person for dying for country and our people.

Kenndedy Assassination

I think the most important person we have discussed this entire semester is the Kennedy assassination. The reason i think this is the most important event we've learned because everyone loved him as a person and as a president. I also think it was a big tragedy and a big loss. He could have made a big difference if he had not been assassinated. He could changes many things and he could have made a relationship between Russia and the United States and even Cuba.
I think that there were so many important people that we talked about. But, one person that did stand out to me was, MLK. He was such a powerful man, and had so many awesome speeches that really inspired people to follow their dreams. His speeches we're so good because the people could really connect with his reputation. He was such a strong leader and I think it’s important for kids to know all that MLK did. He was a guy that so many people looked up to, and I think that is very important to know. Not only is it good to learn about MLK but its very interesting! I think MLK was one of the most important people we talked about.
I think that the most important person that we learned about this year is Emmett Till. The reason I believe this is because thanks to him we had a great turning point here in the United States. Many african american people fought for their rights right after Emmett Till died. Because of his death they realized that this was a real problem that it could not be ignored. Now thanks to all of this everybody has equal rights. R.I.P. Emmett Till
I really do not know if I will read this summer, but I have read a lot of books throughout the year. I have read books like Perfect Chemistry and all the books to that series, and many other books that I honestly do not remember the name. I enjoy books about romance or mystery.

Important Events This Semester.

This Semester has been interesting, all the topics were important in a way. To me, Emmett Till was one person/topic that stuck in my head! I cant imagine how scary it was after his murder, it was one horrible situation and i'll never forget it, the fact that no one talks about it breaks my heart because i think that he should be remembered in a respectful manner. He was an innocent boy that died so young of something that any typical young boy would do, and to me it's like he died for acting his age. the Emmett Till Story will always remind me of how lucky america/ the world is to have changed from all that hate in the past. I know there so many racist people out there, but it's a lot easier to get along. R.I.P Emmett Till<3

important events

personally i think the most important even in history is the Vietnam war. I think this was a very important event because of all the hippies and people protesting, this split up the younger generation and when the soldiers came back the had PTSD witch made people go crazy. Also, what happens at Kent state was a big issue because people who didn't  even want anything to do with the  protesting go shot at. I think this was a turning point in American history because it was a big part and had a big affect on Americans.

Books

Personally, I like Sports related books and also action books. I like books that have suspense and also some comedy. A couple books that I have read in high school that I liked were Gym Candy, and High Heat. Both of those books are sports relayed, they are action packed and have some comedy. Books like those ones are the ones that grab my attention.

I like chick flick books. I also really like love stories. I will most likely read a love story this summer so i hope its on the summer reading list! I really don't read to many books, but when i find a good one, ill never put it down! Hopefully i'll find a good book for this summer to read !
I have no idea what book I will be reading over the summer. Over the past summers I have read high heat which was an awesome book in my opinion. I have also read Jude which was pretty good i thought. And i can't remember the other one. But ya those are the books i read and I am looking forward to summer.

Books

I don't know what book to read yet but i like mystery books and suspense. i also like horror books because it has both mystery and suspense. i don't remember any books i could recommend but the only book i am probably going to read is the summer reading book we need to read.

President lies

I think it's o.k for presidents to lie in certain circumstances if it's information we don't need to know. That's when the president should lie or when it's top secret information that does not concern us or that could threaten national security. That is why i think it's sometimes o.k to lie.

Books

I am so excited for the summer because thats when I can read a lot! I love to read romantic books and I also like action/fighting kinds of books just like the hunger games!! I love those books because you can never put the book down and I love those kind of books! Over the Summer I am going to read the 2nd and 3rd book of the hunger games and I will also read my summer reading book. :) I am so excited!! I love reading!!!!

BOOKS

I personally like horror books because for some reason whenever there is a lot of violence going on that kind of stuff just sticks in my head. Not gonna lie the only book I am probably going to read this summer, is going t be the summer reading book that we have to read for school, other than that I am just going to enjoy my summer.

Books

I can't really tell you what books i have read because i don't really remember the last time i read a book i did not have to read. I can't recommend any books for the same reason. I don't think i am even going to read a book over the summer.

Lying To The People.

I dont agree with anybody who lies to someone because at the end of the day someone always gets hurt or disappointed. Most importantly, if the govermment is going to lie to people, the'res going to be a bigger problem because then its more than one person thats angry. it depends it the lie is worth telling, usually people lie to save people's feelings, but i think its not right because the truth always saves the day, the lie just gives people false happiness for a limited time, and when they find out, they go cray cray!!

Presidential Lies

I do think it's okay for presidents to lie, but then again i don't. There are times when is it may be necessary for a president to lie. Like for example if something were going on that didn't yet to seem to put the United States in any harm or danger, then it'd be okay for him to lie. Because if the president were to tell the american people, it would make him look bad or as if they had no control over the whole situation. That would make the president seem as if he were weak or had no power at all. But if it were a situation that the president knew was going to put the U.S in any harm, like an attack or war was going to start. Then that should definitely be something that all of the American people should know and not be kept a secret. Because if the people were to find out about something serious like a possible attack was going to happen, i'm pretty sure they wouldn't be able to trust the president again.

Pretty Little Liars.

I like reading serie books because the story keeps going on and on! last summer I read, "Drama High" by L.Divine. there 13 book out of the series but i've only read 10 sofar. I used to hate reading but those book kept me busy and wanting to read more and more! iwould recomend them to all my class mates, im pretty sure they can all relate to them. This summer Im thinking of reading "Pretty Little Liars" by Sara Shepard i've watched the series of it, and im too excited to read the book! cant wait.

Quarter 4, Week 8: Summer Reading

Well, it's that time of year again!  As we all know, practice makes perfect, so why not grab a book to read by the pool this summer?  With that said, what kind of book genre do you like the most?  What book(s) do you plan on reading over the summer?  If you don't have anything in mind yet, write down a few books you have read and enjoyed in the past so your fellow bloggers have some book ideas for the upcoming break.

I think that it's not right for the president to lie to us. Sure the truth can get rough but i think it's best to know these things instead of being in the dark. This world has lairs in it already and I think that there has to be at least one man in this world that has to tell the truth. Even more so the guy that we choose to lead us. We didn't vote to have a liar in the White House but a truthful person that will be honest no matter what and will lead us through troubled times no matter what.

predictions

I think that the relationships will eventually change in the book, because in books there is always a sudden change. I think that conrad and beth are eventually going to feel really close, and love eachother. Also i think that the whole swim team is going to see who conrad really is, and they are all going to wants to be friends with him.

DONT LIE

I don't think it would ever be okay for a president to lie. If a president was lying to the people, and someone found out that he was, some crazy person would some how find a way to kill the president for lying to the people. A president can't hide what is going on in the world that we live in, we deserve to know everything that the president knows, that's the only fair thing to do.
I do not really think its okay for presidents to lie. Presidents should be upfront and honest with the people. If they lie one day the truth is just going to come out and their going to look bad anyways. People don't want to be lied to. Presidents shouldn't lie because people would be mad when they actually found out the truth. I really don't think its ever okay for them to lie. Presidents are supposed to set a good example, but if they lie, people will also think its okay to lie, and that's not good.
In my opinion I think that it would be ok for the president to lie. One reason would be that maybe if he told us what was going on people might over react and cause chaos. Also to protect us from something bad. But sometimes I feel that he wold need to share stuff that is important.

Lying

A president shouldn't lie because its their duty to do the right thing in their country, its also not right for him because it looks really bad if someone catches him lying, then what. What will people think about him, what will the country do, would the people be mad at him or would they just forgive him because he is the president after all. No one should ever lie, its not a good habit to get into. It just looks bad on him.

presidential lies

I think when it comes to a state of national security its not the tell the whole truth but kind of put it in a way that won't cause people to panic. Like if Obama would have told us "hey I'm about to go pop a cap in this bin laden's head but if this fails we might just make things worse". I think that would've scared some people or at least put them on edge. Because lets face it there's a lot of things the government doesn't tell us that we wont to know and we as Americans have to accept that because it just might be for our own protection.

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

As president, the task is to keep a watchful eye over the United States. However, in some circumstances, it would be okay to lie during presidency. Although it seems risky to do so, it would be a good idea to lie about any situation going on. However, it's not always acceptable. For example, when Nixon was exposed during the Watergate, a lot of people questioned about why the president would lie about such criticism. Yet, he was a president that kept the country under control during Vietnam, same with Kennedy. Kennedy unknowingly took drugs that "enhanced" his performance, and still kept the country stable through the issues of the time.

Yes

I think it is all right for the president to lie in circumstances that does not concern us or when their is a chance of people freaking out and creating a big commotion which may lead to catastrophic events. For example if the president is planning an attack on a certain country he should leave that stuff out and not tell the public which could lead to complications on the mission. That is why i think it is O.K for the president to lie.
Yes. Sometimes the presidents do it to protect us and keep the United States in order. If we knew everything that is going on around us we would probably always worry. We would be stressed and always being careful. But then if its something that we need to know like during the war at Vietnam then no it is not okay that the president lies because we were seeing everything through the television and then they say something else; it makes them look bad.
I think that Conrad will start to heal sooner or later. And that maybe he will start to open up to his dad; communicate with him more and even make new friends. Healing takes a lot of time and i think he is doing okay. Everything is at its pace nothing should be rushed.

lies

I think for a president to lie is a big no, no!! i understand that a president is under a big responsibility and its a very big role, but i think if you have something that would scare the public why would you even say anything at all? and i don't think that lying. its just not giving all the information. the public doesn't have to know every little thing that's going on, plus its for our best intentions! i don't think its Right for a president to lie to us, and i would be very upset if a president did lie to me.

Quarter 4, Week 7: Presidential Lies

Is it ever ok for a president to lie to the American people?  If so, what circumstances make lying ok?  If not, why not?  Explain your answer in detail.

Ordinary

I think Conrad will change overtime because he is getting help from Berger which in time will lead to Conrad being less isolated and talking to his father more about his feelings and what he is going through. I think the further we read on Conrad will start to form a bond with his mom and start getting to know each other.

ordinary People

I think from what I've read so far i think things will continue to go as they have been going. Their won't be any changes, Conrad is still going to be isolated from his parents especially his mom and from the rest of the world. i think he will still feel a little shame for trying to kill himself and that will lead to further isolation.

Sunday, May 13, 2012

I think as we read further in the book the relationships of the characters will change. I think that Conrad and his mother will become further apart and Conrad will get to the point that he thinks that his mom doesn't love him anymore. Also i feel like that Conrad will try to kill himself again and also have to go back to the hospital. This is what i think might happen in the book further on.
In the book there will be a lot of relationships between conrad and his mom and conrad and Mr. Berger. Their relationships will improve a lot. It will be better, Conrad and his mom will start talking with each other and Conrad will feel comfortable talking about his problems with Mr. Berger. When we get in the middle of this book, I think Conrad will improve a lot from Mr. Berger. His family will improve together.
I feel like the relationships with many people in this book, aren't as a good as they should be. I feel as the book goes on, things will get better. If Conrad keeps going to his therapist, i think he will find love in himself, and repair a lot that was lost. I think Conrad will try and see his mothers point of view more. He already has a pretty good relationship with his dad, so i think it can only get better from here. I think that Calvin will realize that he needs to stop drinking, to keep his family together.

An ordinary person

I think an ordinary person is someone who just lives a very normal life. Whether they're married or single their life is all normal. If they are married they have two kids, a good home in a good neighborhood, and a steady job. They never have any serious problems, there is an occasional argument here and there about the bills but nothing really bad to effect the family. So in my definition ordinary people don't really have any problems that anybody else would have they just live a simple life were nothing goes on.

relationships in the book

in the book, i think a lot of relationships will get better and become stronger. through therapy i think it helps build family relationships stronger and what not. i think Conrad will be closer with Beth and his new friend. Finding the skills to trust someone again and to open up to people will help him open up More with his father . maybe seeing that Conrad is getting better Cal will make an improvement and work better on his drinking.

Quarter 4, Week 6: Ordinary People

Based on the background information we have read so far, make a prediction as to how the story will advance.  How will the relationships develop, if at all?  What do you foresee happening in the novel?  Explain in detail.

Sunday, May 6, 2012

If i were part of the military and revived orders to harm civilians i would say no. The reason why is because i would never be able to do that to innocent people. Also i would have a hard time killing them. Another thing i would like to say would be that i would have shock and that would be hard to get rid of. This the reason why i wouldn't be able to do this to innocent civilians.
If My Lai had told me to civilians, i wouldn't have done it. Killing innocent people is just not okay. I would try and think about the long term effects. What if i was an innocent person just walking around and got killed for no reason. I would not kill someone that doesn't deserve to get killed. I would do everything in my power to not kill someone. I would be willing to take the punishment.
I would not care about the orders. I would have to do what right for me and the people around me. I would stand up for what I believe in. I need to stay safe and alive. Thats all it matters.

If I Was Part Of The Military.

If I was part of the Military that was given orders to hurt civilians, i would pretend to follow the orders because i wouldn't want to risk my my job, i would instead protect them and try not to hurt them, if other soldiers were in favour with me, we could convice other soldiers to keep the civilians safe. If that doesn't work out, then i would report the orders to a the government and make sure that the civilians are safe because they really have nothing to do with war unless they start fighting and carrying weapons, then that woulld be hard for me to recognise an innocent civilian.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

I would initially not take the order seriously. Because it is immoral and illegal I wouldn't take the order seriously. When people started attacking civilians I would use non-lethal force to disable people in my unit. I would also help civilians run away from the massacre.

Initially I would feel uncomforatbale and not want to do it at all. But after seeing freinds of mine die nad other aspects of war where my head would be screwed up I might end up doing it. Of course you might not think you would when were in America and obviously it is politically correct to say you wouldn't none of us know how we would feel when we were in the heat of war you mind personality and commen sence changes when you are there.

My Lai Massacre

I think it all depends on what you've been through in the months that came before that deadly attack on the My Lai village. If i had gone through hard times and seeing my friends die all around me, being killed by those same people we were trying to protect i would probably do what the captain's orders were and if that meant killing all those people than i would do it. I would do it because it was an order and we had gone through a lot losing a lot of good people and friends. We don't really know what was going on in that group of soldiers and what they had been through so we can't really judge them for their actions, we have no right too.
