Pros And cons

The first pro i would have to say was that they had a lot of money. They also had a house where they could live and keep warm. They also had a job to keep food on the table. The cons are that they did not spend as much time with their families. They usually wasted their money on booze or other ilicit drugs. All they did was party and drink booze which is bad for your health. The pros for people on the Great depression was that they actually appreciated things like heat and eletricity. They had to have heat and eletricity to survive. They spent a lot more time with their family and friends. They also appreciated the small things people did to hepl them. The cons where that they had a tought time getting money to pay their bills. If they did not pay, their heat or eletricity would be shut off. They had to hunt for jobs because the owners usually hired five or nine people at the most. They also got little pay. They did not know if they were going to be able to feed their family or keep them warm which was horribvle not knowing if they could last for another week with the food they had.

Quarter 3 - Week 2!

Last quarter we read The Great Gatsby and were able to see what life was like in the Roaring Twenties for the wealthy who did not care about anyone but themselves. Now, we're watching Cinderella Man, and we're able to see life is the Great Depression. What are the pros and cons of living in each decade? (*Think about more than just the money.) Be specific and come up with at least 3 pros and 3 cons for each decade.

Abe

I feel like the person that we learned about so far, that had the most impact on everything we learned was Abraham Lincoln. There are many reasons as to why i think this. The first reason as to why i believe he had the biggest impact on people is because so many of the people really did like him. They had great respect for him, for everything he did. Also i think it is very important because he let of the slaves be free. With out the Emancipation Proclamation there might even still be slaves today. Abe also had a huge role in the civil war. He lead the people to get rid of slavery. Also Abe saved the union by choosing to go to war to prevent the nation from dividing. President Lincoln over came a lot of things, such as being poor and having little education. He became a hero to many.

Big Impact from First Semester

The biggest impact of history we have learned from first semester would have to be the final decision of forming the United States. This all started following the Revolution and its aftermath, when the Constitution was signed, therefore sealing the deal with Britain and finally forming a country on good intentions. Throughout the years after the signing, we have experienced traumatizing situations, like the Civil War, which almost destroyed the foundations of what our founding father's intended to build. We prevailed, nonetheless. Then, with the chaos that ensued during World War I, we managed to pull through the hardships of war. In all ends, we learned what could happen if America wasn't built on the foundations of a free democracy. Here's to a brighter future for our country, because we see it coming towards us.

Reflecting Back to 1st Semester

When I look back at 1st semester, I see the Battle of Gettysburg as a very important event. The Battle of Gettysburg was a battle fought in the Civil War in 1863. I believe that the Battle of Gettysburg was the greatest event that we learned about last semester because it was the main turning point for the Union in the civil war after they defeated Robert E. Lee's confederate army. I also think that the Battle of Antietam was another very important event. The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest battle fought in the civil war at Antietam Creek September 17th, 1862. There were so many casualties for both sides that they determined the battle as a draw. When people saw the photographs of Antietam, it made them realize how brutal and tragic war really was.

Abraham LIncoln

I think Abraham Lincoln was a great part of our history. From the day he started presidency to the moment he died. The reasons I believe this is because; he was against slavery and did things to end slavery like The Emancipation Proclamation even though it didn't work at the time it has made in impact on the lives we have today. The day he died also affected the way we act with presidents now at that time no one really protected the president when he got murdered it really made a big impact now the presidents are surrounded by body guards and have a lot of protection. He did many things and until this day people still remember him.

Event in history

One of the biggest event from history would be the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. We knew that a lot of people liked him as the president. People will be remembering this event for a long time because this was the first time that a president was ever assassinated. Thats why I think this was an important event in history. He was a good president who lead people to do the right things.

Saturday, January 28, 2012

I think the biggest impact in the first semester was 9/11. The reason why i think that is because it had a huge impact on the world itself. Everyone was wondering what was going on, then realized what as happening then. In my opinion is that it's one of those moments that sticks to you. Also we covered a lot about 9/11 and why it was significant. It is one thing that us Americans will never forget.

Friday, January 27, 2012

I feel that the north winning the civil war made the biggest impact on american history. America would not be anywhere even close to how we are now compared to if the south won. There could still be slaves today working for us. It would have changed our laws our equality basically the big immagration era could have not even occured. Wars would have been different other countries would probably still had slaves we very well might have not been the powerhouse country we are today if it wasnt for the north winning.

Abraham Lincoln

I believe that Abraham Lincoln is a person that effected the American History a lot. Abraham Lincoln is known to be one of the greatest presidents of the United States. I believe that 100%. One reason why I think Abraham Lincoln effected America in a great way is because he tried to free the slaves, and accomplished it. I believe that if Abraham Lincoln didn't free the slaves back then, we might still be slaves today. He didn't just free the slaves but also tried to help them with there difficulty's . Abraham Lincoln was a nice and never a selfish man in my opinion, because he went against something that was hard to accomplish, but because he thought it was the right think to do,(and it was the right thing to do) he did it for the people. Abraham Lincoln is an american president that changed many things, and I believe he will be known year from now for what he did for all of the Americans.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I think that our greatest president was Abraham Lincoln. Their are several reasons why he is the best president the world has seen. The first reason is that he was the one that fought against slavery. He was the one that ultimately freed the slaves from their owners. He was the one that gave them opportunities to live a life of freedom without anyone telling them what to do and when to do it. He also won the Civil War against the south. He even made sure the slaves were freed from their owners by sending the army to check up on the farms and make sure there weren't any slaves. He was the first president that actually tried to help the slaves and he was the one that created a bond of trust between them. That ultimately led the north to win the Civil War. Because he couldn't of done it with the help of the slaves that wanted to fight for their freedom. That's why i think Abraham Lincoln is the best president we have seen.

reflecting on first semester

When I look back to what we have all learned within first semester, there is one event that just sticks in my mind, that event is 9-11. 9-11 sticks in my mind because when it happend the whole world was in shock and could not believe what had actually happend. Also it sticks in my mind because one of my old friends dad was supposed to work that day, but he called in sick, and if he would have gone to work he would have been killed.

Abraham Lincoln greatest president of all time, of all time !

I think Abraham Lincoln made the biggest impact on american history. Not only was he a good president but he also gave good speeches to large crowds. For example his emancipation proclamation speech he gave after WW1 that freed all the slaves. That one speech that he gave changed american culture even though most people weren't happy about the emancipation proclamation they still went along with it. So I think being a good president and changing american culture makes Abraham Lincoln a big impact on american history.

i would have to say from all we learned in US history, Andrew jackson our 7th president, definetly had the biggest impact in history. i say this because of one of his biggest accomplishments as president. the louisiana purchase gave us a huge territory in the US. then some other great accomplishments were getting the spanish out of florida. there are alot of people who did great things for america but Jackson fought and bought large territories that are now a part of the States.

Quarter 3, Week 1: Reflecting on 1st Semester

Think about all of the historical events and individuals that we studied last semester.  Which event or person do you think had the biggest impact on American history?  Be sure you include several reasons why you chose that event or person.

I think that Gatsyby had many dreams. I feel like he had many important things in his life that he worked hard to get. He had many friends family and worked hard for daisys love. He did so much and worked so hard to be with daisy. I think that before he died he got msot of his dreams. He became rich and had a huge house. Thats a lot of peoples dreams.

Gatsby's Dream

Gatsby had many things in his life. friends, money, everyone knew him. one thing he didn't have was Daisy. having an American dream is wanting something you don't have, and doing whatever it took to get that dream. Gatsby although he was a bit of a creep to get daisy he went after what he wanted he risked himself and did whatever it took to get his girl. i do think before he died he got half of his dream. he had Daisy for a little bit but he saw her going back to Tom and after that he got killed. He had a taste of what his American dream was.

history in 100 years

in 100 years from now people in history will be learning about many different things. one things i would teach in on May 1st 2011. Barack Obama announced that Osama bin Laden was killed during an American military operation. i think along with this goes 9/11 and how it brought everyone together. i think this day is very memorable for people who lost someone in 9/11 and not just that the whole US. i feel like by him dying helped us feel a little bit better and safer again knowing the man that hurt so many people was dead. i don't think the people learning this will take it so hard as we all did but its just like how we love how slavery was over but we weren't there to really appreciate it.

Gatsby's Dream

I think Gatsby wanted people to like him. He wanted Daisy to fall in love with him, but that didn't work, he threw parties so people could meet him. Also I think he wanted everyone to like him, Daisy didn't marry him because he was poor and she wasn't. He almost got his dream, but he didn't. If he tried harder I think his dreams would come true.

American Dream

Gatsby's american dream was to win Daisy, and he didn't accomplish it. I don't think that the American Dream was to be rich or famous, even though he was both of these things. Gatsby only cared about pleasing Daisy, and making her happy. He had many parties but he didn't care who went, because being rich and famous was not something he cared about. Gatsby's american dream was to win Daisy, but he never accomplished it because he was murdered by Myrtle's husband George.

GATSBY'S DREAM.

I believe that Gatsby accomplished his dreams, since Daisy wasn't part of his dreams. them fact that Gatsby was poor before, and he got all this money, is one of the accomplished dreams he had. He wanted to get back daisy but in life, things don't go as planned.

Gatsby's Dream

Gatsby's American dream was to be successful and have a lot of money. Yes in a way and no in a way because his main goal was to be sucessful and thats what he did but no because one of his goals weren't loving daisy and when diasy left him and started new life his dream was to get her back because his plans did not involve love but he loved daisy. After this his dream involved daisy and having a life with her. So I say yes and no.

Gatsby

i dont think Gatsbys American Dream was ever accomplished. he had money but that didnt really satisfy his hunger for the American Dream. Gatsby had the life but didnt seem to care much for. for example, he had parties at his house but he never really partied. the only thing that could really complete his american dream was Daisy. she was married and he wanted her. this was probably his biggest downfall because he eventually dies by the actions of the girl he loved

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Gatsby

I think Gatsby accomplished some of his dreams but not all of them. The first dream was to be with Daisy but at the end she left him for the money and Tom. I guess you could say his second dream was to have kids with Daisy and have a family. The dreams he completed was that he had a house and money. He failed to complete his American dream of having money, a house, and family of his own with Daisy.

Monday, January 9, 2012

I think Gatsby's American dream was to be rich and be with the love of his life, Daisy. I don't think his dream was ever accomplished the way he wanted it to be. The reason I believe this is because he only did the parties in order to be able to see Daisy; he got rich to give Daisy what she wanted. Gatsby wanted Daisy to leave her husband and go back with him, but that didn't happened she left him with all the problems. He died without his family and without the girl he loved next to him. He didn't accomplish anything.

Quarter 2 - English: The Great Gatsby

We talked about the American Dream and what that meant in the 1920s as well as what it means today. (Think about Neil Diamond) But, what do you think that Gatsby's American Dream was? Do you think that he achieved his dream before he was killed? Explain both your answers and use evidence from the book to back yourself up.

100 years from now

i think the most important thing kids in 100 years are going to need to learn is Osama bin Laden, the suspected mastermind behind the September 11 attacks and the FBI's most wanted man is killed by the United States special forces in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

100 years from now

In 100 years from now the teachers will be talking about the day the tsunami that happened in Japan, it caused a lot of damage and scared a lot of people, because that had never happened before in Japan. This is something that people will remember later on in the future and will be taught to students because of the big impact it had on the United States.
I believe that in the future students will be learning about acceptence. 2011 was the most understanding year, understanding in gays and in races. Heaven knows how the future will be but i know some how it will be better than this. Over time things change and sometimes it can be for the better, but better seems more likely than for the worst. Sure there are still some horrible things in the world that people are doing to other people but it's way better than the things that happened in the far past.

100 years from now.

100 years from now I think fremd history students should know what importants that happened in 2011 like the nuclear crisis in Japan because no country wants to see another country be in that sitituation and a lot of people might lose their lives. Also Osama Bin Laden being killed because he was a big part of 9/11 and got away with for years without being find and living his life instead of being punished for what he did. Finally North Korean's president died this year so the goverment might get a little better because kim jong was horrible person.
I think in 2112 students will look back on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. The reason being that I choose this is because no one will ever forget this tragedy. And also being that it was the 10 year anniversary. This is what I think students will look back on in 2112.
I think students at Fremd High School, 100 years from now should be learing about what happened on April 29th the wedding of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Kate Middleton. I think that the Students should learn about this topic because it was a very big day for everyone in the world. Also who would love to talk about history weddings from 2011!

100 year from now

I think students at Fremd High School, 100 years from now should be learing about what happened August of 2011. What happened August of 2011 is "Last-Minute Deal Reached to End Debt Crisis (Aug. 1): After days of disagreement, Congress makes an 11th-hour deal to prevent a national default. Neither side—Democrats nor Republicans—emerges as a clear winner in the agreement. The deal raises the debt ceiling in two steps to $2.4 trillion and cuts an initial $1 trillion in spending over ten years. Also, a bipartisan committee will be formed to recommend $1.5 trillion in additional budget cuts. If Congress fails to act on this new committee's recommendations, then automatic spending cuts will be forced. The committee's recommended cuts are expected by NovemberRead more: August 2011 Current Events: U.S. News — Infoplease.com http://www.infoplease.com/news/2011/current-events/us_august.html#ixzz1igRxCChL" This is our money and the congress just makes a huge decision with consulting many people. This is our money their giving away. We citizens of the United States should have a right in making a decision of what will happen.

This is History

I feel like Obama is a hero. It is real history that everyone will remember will remember just like George Washington or Jackie Robinson Some of the first people to be in maijor things. Jackie Robinson was the first black man to be in the MLB or George Washingtion being the first president of the United States. Obama was the first African American President though everyone may have there own opinion about him the fact that this happened is HISTORY and no one can deny that.

HERO DIED IN 2011

I think kids that are take a fremd US history class in 100 years will be talking about Steve Jobs. The Student will be learning about Steve Jobs because he has changed the whole world with electronics. Steve invented the iPod, and that is how we can listen to music on such a small portable device. He is the creator of Apple, and he past away in 2011, and everyone was in such shock, he has brought the future to the modern day now. HE IS A HERO

In the Year 2112...

In one hundred years, the students will be learning something that is in fact a turning point in the Iraqi War and a brutal blow to Middle Eastern forces. The death of Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind the September Eleventh attacks, killed by a Navy SEAL in a (not-so) secret compound located in Pakistan. Students will also learn about the improvement of technology used to locate the evil leader of the Al-Qaeda group, known to have attacked American soil on a tragic Tuesday late summer morning. Barack Obama's speech delivered after the death of Bin Laden was a reminder that the battle is far from over and that there was more to be done. In fact, the rest of the Iraqi War was history when Obama pulled all troops from Iraq at the end of 2011, therefore ending the eight-year struggle.

What Students in 100 years will be talking about in 2011

I think that in 100 years from now, students in a US History class will be talking about a major event that occurred in 2011. I believe that the major event that they will be learning about is the death of Osama Bin Laden. I think that the death of Osama Bin Laden changed America because he was the main reason for destroying many lives because of the September 11th tragedy. That is why I believe that in 100 years, students will be learning about how we killed Osama Bin Laden in the year 2011.

The 9.0 magnitude earthquake that hit japan in 2011

In 2011, an earthquake that measures 9.0 hit east of sendai, Japan striking 130kn (80 miles) which called for a tsunami that killed thousand of people. This event is considered the 2nd largest nuclear accident in the whole wide world's history. alot of people lost their lives, property, jobs, loved ones and shelter. it was terrifying and alot of people that had family in japan lived in fear wondering if their loved ones were alright. Japans governmment was in bankrapcy because they spent alot of money trying to fix the country and getting peoples lives back in line. this day will never be forgotten because alot of people were injured and others lost their lives. it will forever be remebred in history. R.I.P to those that died on March, 11th, 2011.

Soldiers

i think they kids in 2112 could be learning about the troops being pulled from aghanistan and ending the some of the violence in that country. i think that they could be learning that and some other things that happened.

Monday, January 2, 2012

I think that kids at Fremd will be learning about what happened on May 1st 2011. Barack Obama announced that Osama bin Laden the founder and leader of the militant group Al- Qaeda, was killed during an American military operation. I think this will be a big topic that kids will be learning about. All of the damage that this man has down to us, they will be learning about.
If i ran our English class for just one day i would do a lot of things. I would make all 50 min. be very fun. We would play games the whole period and we would be able to yell and scream and do pretty much what we wanted. We would have food in class. We would also not learn to much. We would be able to listen to music and do things we don't usually get to do. Also, everyone would be included. No one would be sitting there left out, we would all be out of our seats having fun. These are some of the many things we would do if i ran English for just one day.

Quarter 2, Week 8: 2011 is HISTORY!

Imagine that it is the year 2112, and students at Fremd are taking a US History class.  One hundred years from now, what event from 2011 do you think Fremd students should learn about?  Be sure to explain why the event that you chose is a significant historical event.
