I would watch a movie and ask the kids how this movie would tie into English. And then we would have a discussion about it when the movie was done, If we are done with the movie then we could play an English game or something. Thats how I would teach the students.

If i was the teacher

If I was in charge of my english class for one day it would very fun. I would have pizza for everone and Jack Johnson music playing the whole time and we would get into disscusions about english related topics. I would make sure we are all laughing participating and having a good time. When the end of the period would come I would not assign any homework.

Quarter 2 - English Post

If you could run your high school English class for one day - what would it look like? Be specific and explain how you would use all 50 minutes of the period to do something education.

I wouldn't have done things diffrently, sure Abe. L was a total mess but as you can see that's what made him so strong, at least helped. He knew what he was doing and he knew what would please the people, some look up to him because of all he's done. He must have done something right if he ended up on a penny in todays currency. Changing history, rather small or big, would change the life we live in now. I say he did perfectly giving that speech and woulnd't have it any other way myself.

Lincoln

I wouldn't change anything that lincoln did because what he did was fine. He was the leader and he did his job well. I wouldn't do anything more. He had things under control. I might be more organized then him but thats all i would change.
If I was Lincoln during Antietam I really don't think i would do much different. He went though a really hard time. His family life was very difficult and everyone was planning on him being perfect. He was under alot of stress. Although he wasn't very successful, he tried his hardest and got a lot done that he could. I don't think i would change how Abe handled things.
If i were Lincoln at that time i would not have changed anything he did. I would back him up completely. I know he made so bad choices but we all do, especially when were depressed. Because of his son and his wife.

Lincoln

I think i wouldn't have really done anything different, because he gave orders pretty well even though he was going through alot with his son passing away and the whole situtation with his wife. If anything were to be changed, i don't think the north would have won the war then. Lincoln did the best he could and that is all that really matters, that showed that he cared and was dedicated to his country.

Lincoln

I think Lincoln should have been in a mess it was very important time in our history and even more important then because he was the president and a lot pressure was put on him to save the united states together and united. I would have done the same thing as the president in a crisis like this because as the president you have to make important decisions and put a lot of thought into eaach and every problem your faced. No one deserves to have that much weight and problems on them but everyone has challenges that have to face and Lincoln did his best to help his Country.

Abe Lincoln

If I were Lincoln I wouldn't have been functional and I probably would have done worse than he did. The loss of my family and all of the lost battles would have crippled me.
if i were lincoln i think i would not be able to give orders as well has he did on the day of the battle. i would have probably sent more military leaders to antietam to help defeat the south. i think i may have lost the war for the country because i dont have the knowledge that lincoln had.

Lincoln

If I was Lincoln during Antietam I don't think I would do anything differently. Maybe it wasn't completely a win but the public saw it as that and it was enough for him to sign the Emancepation Proclomation. Also he was dealing with alot so itss no wonder he wasn't feeling 100 %. Obviously he did the right thing though because the north ended up winning anyways.

Monday, December 5, 2011

I would not have done anything different. first of all because i would also be a mess because of the situation with his son and wife. second of all the north had lost a majority of fights. i would have done what lincoln did because at the end it all worked out.

Quarter 2, Week 6: Lincoln

On the day of Antietam, Lincoln was a mess.  What would you have done if you were in the same situation?  Would you have done things differently?

Sunday, December 4, 2011

I think that everyone should still read Huckleberry Finn. The reason is because it is a classic and is a great book to read. The only thing would probably to be to cut the n word out of the book because it does affend people. But other than that I think that everyone should read it.

Huckleberry Finn

I think that this book should be required to be read in school. If the students are learning about slaves then reading this book would make the students have a better understanding of what it was like during the world war and what it was like to be an African American. Yes many people do get offended with the n word used frequently in the book, but this is what makes the book so strong without the word the book looses its importance. I personally don't think that word should be used at all but its part of our history and we can't just ignore it. Huckleberry Finn should be read in school but maybe the n word should not be said because that could cause a problem.

huckleberry

I feel that Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should not be required reading for high school students. I don't think it should be required because there are a lot of people that think this book is very racist and there are also a lot of people that are offended by this book and also buy the language this is being used in this book. Some people say that they should rewrite this book because the "N" word is used so many times, but if they rewrote the book with out that word the book just wouldn't be as good because back then that is just how everyone talked no matter what.

Huckleberry Finn

I think we should read Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in school because although there are alot of offensive remarks in it, it's important to note that Mark Twain was not racist. I think people can learn from this book some how. Students would need to be mature about reading this book because of the offensive things that are in this book. Thats why students should read this in high school.

Friday, December 2, 2011

Huckleberry Finn is a great peice of art and a classic that will always be refered to as one of americas favorite books. I can understand however why people would think this book is not appropriate for school. But the fact that this book has bad words does not make it bad the words make it great. Twain uses satire making fun of the people who use the word and who are racist showing how foolish people were back then. This book should definatley be part of the regular cericulum.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Huckleberry Finn, a great piece of literature by Mark Twain, in my opinion, should be a requirement despite its content. The N-Word, should be taken as one example, because it is a very powerful word that was used back in the 19th century, and still is today. I might not agree with its use many times, but we have read books in the past that had used many derogatory remarks (Crucible, Catcher in the Rye, etc.). However, despite the criticism towards the book, it's an epic adventure of a boy and a slave trying to escape their torment, which I think could be handled properly, yet, would defeat the purpose of this story.

Otherwise, this should be in the English teaching curriculum.
Of course I think the book Huckleberry Finn should be to taught i public schools.
It makes soo much sense to me. I dont know why anyone would want to sencor their kid from this book. I believe that if you learn about the past and look at the mistakes that older people have made then they are less likely to happen in the future! It should be taught.
I feel like the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should be read in schools all over. The "N" word is used in this book to show how powerful it really is when people use it. I feel like its not okay for people too go around useing it, but in this book it brings up a good point. It shows that the word was used a lot back then, not so much in a terrible way but in a way refuring to somone. All though the word is not a nice word, it should be used in the book.
I think that it should be in schools because it a peice of writing that is well known throughout The U.S that should be read. Though it may contain some words that could hurt but it wouldn't be the book it is today without them. It creates the feeling that it's really happening and that he's really there telling you the story. I think that we are to a point that we can read these types of books without feeling much offense. After all we are in high school and should be old enough to handle what comes our way, even if it comes from a book that was written by an old man trying to write a good story. To me it's almost like 9/11, it wouldnt be so tragic if all those people had died. This book wouldn't be great if it didn't have the vocabulary it has.

Huckleberry

I Dont think they should be taught because we don't need to know about that we already are learning about slaves in history and what they were called, so i find it unecessary to learn it.

Quarter 2: Week 5

Do you feel that Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should be required reading for high school students? Be sure to support your answer with specific reasons and justifications.

Civil War Cause

I think one of the most crucial causes of the Civil War would be the South's secession from the North. It really impacted the North's government and armed forces by a lot, meaning that the North's forces were crippled by the South's army and secession.

Sunday, November 27, 2011

I think the main cause to the civil war was slavery in general. The north was fighting to be free. Slavery was bad in many ways. Most of the battles we're over slavery. I think its safe to say that slavery had a huge effect on people. The white people treated the "blacks" much diffrent. This wasnt fair, so a lot of people fought over it.

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

war

i think a cause of the civil war was slavery because thats why the north was fighting against the south for slavery. that was the main point would slaves be free or not. another great cause was the lincoln presidency al lot of southerners did not like lincoln and did not want him as their president so they seceded.

tranendtilism

Song Lyrics
What They Mean
Poi Dog Pondering
“Bury Me Deep”

A lifetime of accomplishments of which the dirt knows none,
only in death can one truly return
Return the carrots, the apples and potatoes,
The chickens, the cows, the fish and tomatoes.
In one glorious swoop, let the deed be done
and bury me deep so that I can be one...
And all around my muscle and all around my bone,
don't incinerate me or seal me from
the dirt which bore me, the bed that which from
the rain falls upon and the fruit comes from
For the dirt is a blanket, no fiery tomb,
No punishment, reward, or pearly white room
And you who say that in death we will pay,
The dead they can't hear a word that you say
Your words are not kind, sober or giving,
they only put fear in the hearts of the living
So put away your tongues and roll up your sleeves,
and pick up your shovel and bury me deep.

I think this song is saying to give back to the earth and also to return back to the earth because transcendentalist believe in spiritual beliefs. It also talks about returning back to the dirt because transcendentalist believe in reaching a spiritual statues. Because they think that reality can only be understood by studying the spiritual things they read about or believe in.
I think the battle of Amtietam was the most important/ siginificant to the Civil War. Because t was brutal battle. Also lots of people(men) died and risked their lives. And this was when Abraham Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation.

Saturday, November 19, 2011

Civil War

I think the Antietam war was significant because on September 17, 1862 it was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War took place. The Battle of Antietam is referred to as the "bloodiest" battle of the Civil War because more men were killed or wounded here, than during any other Civil War battle. This was an opportune time for Abraham Lincoln to write the Emancipation Proclamation. This is probably the most important outcome of this battle.

Friday, November 18, 2011

Civil War

I think the emancapation proclamation was important becuase this showed that we were strong and that we fight for what we want. Abraham stated a lot of good points in this speech and made it very clear that we weren't going to give up without a fight no matter what it cost us.
I know that the battle of Amtietam was the most significant cause of the Civil war. The battle of Amtietam was very significant because it changed the way the americans looked at war. Also it was a gres=at significance because there was a great number of casualties.

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

civil war

i think the most significant event of the civil war was when Abraham lincoln gave his emancipation proclamation speech. I thought this was the most significant because it showed the south that the north was not going to give up without a fight and that slavery was about to be extinct forever. I also think the speech gave the soldiers more energy and belief that they had a chance to win the war and that maade them go until the end.

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

I think that the cause of the civil war was the Antietam. This was the bloodiest war fought. Also more men lost there life fighting in this war. This is the time where Abraham Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. This was the most important outcome of the war.

I think this song is trying to show people that even when bad things happen, good things will happen too. Also they are saying that there isn't a punishment on what you believe in. The lyrics also mean that they want to make the best of what they have

Quarter 2: Week 2

The following song is called "Bury me Deep" by Poi Dog Pondering. It is a great example of transendentalist beliefs. Review what it means to be a transcendentalist. Then copy and paste his chart into a new post and explain the meaning of the lyrics and how they show transcendentalist beliefs.

Manifest the destiny

I disagree with the concept of manifest destiny becauase the americans came in and just took the land from the indians, but they didn't force them off they came in and just strolled in on them. I think they should of warned the native americans that they were going to come on their land insted of forcing themselves on the native americans. They even brought measels with them which isn't a good way to welcome yourselves in even if your not trying to hurt someone.

manifest destiny

I disagree with manifest destiny . I disagree becasue I dont think that anyone should have to be kicked out of their own house for any reason. Everyone has a right to live where ever they want to and someone thinks that they can just come to the native americans house and say that they have to leave and they cant come back. The people that kicked the native americans out of there house are very selfish.

Manifest Destiny

I disagree with Manifest destiny for multiple reasons. One reason is that I do not think it is right at all to kick someone out of their homeland for any reason. I also don't think it is right to kick the native americans out just so the americans could gain more land and "spread freedom" by settling the whole country all the way to the pacific ocean.
I agree with the concept of Manifest Destiny. I chose to agree with the concept of Manifest Destiny because, I put mysely in the shoes of the people who wanted to move west and it looked like a good idea to the white settlers at the time. the white settlers just didnt take into consideration the feelings of the Native Americans. If it werent for the the men and women who felt like they had to move west, we would not have a lot of the America that we have now! All in all the Ameicans could have handled this situation way better then they did. I still know it paid off for USA in the long run.

Manifest Destiny

I think that Manifest Destiny is great and right for many reasons. It's all about expanding the U.S. which it did and can you just imagine the U.S. without some of its states? If we would even get rid of one state i don't think we would be able to get over that. This was for the better for us but then again we did kill people to get some of it. In the end though we paid to prevent any more killing though. Manifest Destiny was the right thing for us, we needed it to expand the U.S and become what we are today.

Manifest Destiny

I disagree with the whole concept of Manifest Destiny for several reasons. First of all it was unfair to the Native Americans, because that was their land and yet they were being forced out of their homes. Second it caused a lot of debate and violence. They all started fighting over the land and lots of lives were lost. There could of been a better way to deal with the whole land situation rather than involving violence. Could of came up with some type of agreement or deal that would have been fair.

Manifest Destiny

I disagree with manifest destiny because, you can't just kick people out of their home it is wrong especially that it was specifically one group of people it was worse. No matter what the reason the president had to do this there could have been other ways to deal with what was going to happen if they didn't leave. They could have fought those people for the land. I mean if the president was really just trying to keep those people safe he wouldn't have said "you leave or I'll shoot you" it wasn't so much that he wanted to protect them it was that he wanted the land. So i guess we can all say this was wrong.
I disagree with Manifest Destiny because it is wrong to kick someone out of their own home. If you really think about it they never did anything wrong or harm anyone to be treated like this. In my opinion this was the wrong choice to make. That's like someone coming to your front door and they tell you that you have to leave your home forever, I don't think so. So we can all agree to that manifest destiny was wrong.

Saturday, November 5, 2011

Manifest Destiny

I disagree because the U.S stole land from the natives and I think thats just not right how they just take land away from them. Another thing I disagree with manifest destiny is that alot of natives were killed by the U.S. Also I found out that the U.S. forced capture natives onto reservation. I think thats not right and its mean and cruel. Thats why I disagree with manifest destiny.

Manifest Destiny: My Response

The whole concept of Manifest Destiny seemed very cliche for those traveling since most of the Americans did it starting with Christopher Columbus' voyage. Yet, it seemed more of a 'prophecy' than a 'do whatever you feel like' because many Americans wanted to find new land with new opportunities, especially with The Louisiana Purchase. I like the concept of Manifest Destiny because it was a new opportunity for Americans,. It also gave the Americans a boost in confidence and in the economy with the California Gold Rush. However, I strongly disagreed with the purging of Native Americans from their homelands. In the end, everyone lived in peace and no Civil/Internal War sparked between the Americans, Native Americans, and the Mexicans... except for the Mexican/Texas War.

Manifest destiny

I disagree with manifest destiny because a lot of innocent people including children were kicked off their land. they did not get anything. they just got told to get off or die and lots of times native americans fought but were killed. the native americans had to move further away from theri sacred land and sometimes the places were they went were useless. they were useless because the land was dry and harsh. also the native americans did not get any money or goods for their land.

Quarter 2, Week 1: Manifest Destiny

Do you agree or disagree with the concept of Manifest Destiny?  (HINT:  Consider the pros and cons.)  Explain your answer.

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Honestly, as soon as i got the packet saying all the information we needed to cover in this paper, nothing but bad ideas we're running though my head. I had so many concern's and so many worries. How was i going to pick a college in a couple days? How am i supposed to come up with what i want to be when i am older, when i m only 16? How was i going to write a 3 page paper on something i am not yet passionate about? So many questions we're running though my mind. It's really hard to even know where to start. There so much information to look up, and see and learn, that this assignment does almost seem impossible. When everyone in the class knows what and where they want to go, and your the only one who doesn't know, you feel a little lost. To be honest i m still not to sure how i am going to write this paper, or anything i for sure want to be or do. This is going to be one of the most complicated papers I'll have to write in my high school career, because its such a stressful topic. When i think college, i just think of complete Cassius. But my goal for the end of this paper, is feeling confident going in to senior year of what i want to be and where i want to go. I know this is going to be a difficult project and i am wondering why exactly we have to do it, but in the long run its going to help me so much.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

The paper

I honestly do not know where to begin. I don't know how I am going to tie the career and the college information all together in one essay.

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Paper

My concern about the paper is not doing too much at once because I'll end up confusing myself on everything I need to do.Also I'm thinking of adding a new career to my paper but If i should do that or just stick to one.

Nationalism

If i where president i would focus om nationalism because I'd want things to be good on my end before i focus everywhere else because you can't be president ,and not focus on your own people and there needs and wants.
The one thing that I don't personally like about this research paper is I have so much info, I just don't know what information is good to put in my paper and what information I should just leave out.

Paper

My biggest concern for the paper would be the time we have to do the paper bc we only get like a month to get our research and type up the paper, we need like two months to do this. Also i really don't like how many pages we have to do. I hope I really hope I get a good grade on this bc i am working so hard to get a good grade on this paper.

Monday, October 17, 2011

Quarter 1: Week 8

Ok - So I assigned a seemingly impossible research paper, and I want to know what you are thinking. What is your biggest concern about the paper? Be honest - maybe someone else can console you or offer some great advice. Hang in there!!! We'll all get through it.

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Its important to have nationalism because your supposed to be proud of your country. Being proud of your country is a good thing. Nationalism is a best way to take credit for someone else's accomplishments. Also its important to make sure things are going well around the country. So i think its important to practice nationalism way more then sectionalism.

A Good Putitan

Honestly i dont think any of the charictors are " good puritans". i think this because, all of them have lied and did something to make them a bad puritan. I know the question is to take one person but the only person i can think that didnt do anything wrong really was Elisabeth. She also wanted to ahve her husband lie to save his life there for she is still a bad puritan. Thats why i cant pick one person.

6th Amendment

I think that the 6th amendment is that most important amendment because, it gives people there privacy. I do think that even back in the Puritan days no one gave them there own space and they got all mad about it. Also, i think that if people are in each other Private life's things get mixed up and that's just not good. i do think that people like having their own life's and not having others up their butts about it. This is a good amendment because people don't need to know about others life's.

Boston Tea Party

I think the Boston Tea party was the thing that pushed the colonist over because, the thing that was being taxed the most was tea. Everyone back then loved tea and to be taxed so much made then so angry and that's why they dumped it into the sea. It also, made the tax go up because they had to pay for the tea that was dumped and the new tea.

Monday, October 10, 2011

If I were president i would focus more on nationalism. Because you would what to make sure everything fine with the nation more than anything.
I think that John did the right decision. Because if he said that he was a witch people would give him a hard time the rest of his life. Also people might try to hurt or try to kill him.
If i we're the president i would most defiantly focus on Nationalism. It is so important to make sure things are going well in your own state before you focus on everyone else in their own states. I would put one person in charge of each state so that they could practice Nationalism. I think its so important to practice nationalism over sectionalism.

Quarter 1, Week 7: Nationalism vs. Sectionalism

If you were president, would you focus more on policies that promoted nationalism or those that promoted sectionalism?  (HINT:  Look at your Balancing Nationalism and Sectionalism Note Sheet to review the definitions of these terms.)  Explain your answer, and give specific policies that you might enforce to promote either nationalism or sectionalism.

Proctor's Decision

I think Proctor made a bad decision by ripping put the confession note. I would rather live and be with my family and also be known as a witch then get hanged and die. I know What he did was right but if I was him I would just confessed and put it on the church so everyone would see it. I would loss my reputation but I wouldn't loss my family. Family matters way more then your friends and your reputation.

Thursday, October 6, 2011

Procter decision

I think john made the right decision because if i was living back then as a puritan and i was in john's position I would rather die then live my life in shame known as a witch. It may sound a little harsh for others but if you put yourself in john's shoes it seems like they the only thing he could do because he wanted to keep his dignity intact. So for him its more of a manhood thing and him trying to keep what little of it he had.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

At the end of the Crucible, John Proctor recovers his sense of goodness by tearing up the confession that would have saved his life. Do you agree with his decision? Fully explain your response.

Sunday, October 2, 2011

First

I think the first amendment is the most important. The reason why I think it is most important is because no one should tell us what to do or say. Because we have freedom of speech and because no one can tell us to do anything.
I think that the fifth amendment is the most important. I feel like all of them are very important but this amendment stood out to me the most because it makes the most sense. i wouldn't want a bunch of people to just barge into my house, that's not right. The people should have a right to say who can and can not come in to their house. This amendment makes perfect sense and should be the 5th amendment, with out a doubt. This amendment shows that they care for the peoples rights and really want to protect them.

Friday, September 30, 2011

First Amendment

I think this is the most important amendment because you are allowed to say whatever you want. People can't punish you for saying what you believe in. Its not fair for someone to say what other people said. I think people can say anything they want, not what others think.

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

first amendment

I think the sixth amendment is the most important because it gives the people their privacy. If people don't have their privacy i think it would be really hard to live your life because you we always think that someone will be watching you and have security and feel safe. Also how will you protect the people you love if people will always be watching you and also no one would take risk and a lot more would stay inside and have no lives because it would a bad thing to go out. Finally it would be more credit theft and no one would credit or debit cards and a lot of people would have horrible because of more credit theft.

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

First

I think the first amendment is the most important because without it we couldn't could give our opinion on things. Also people should be allowed to say what they want as long as they have a good reason behind it. The amendment itself is important because it puts restrictions on some things and when it comes to the amendment that can be a good thing cause it gives us order.

Good Puritans

I think Rebecca nurse is a good puritan because she goes to church and pray because she wants to not just because it makes her look good unlike reverend Parris. Also she cares for everyone other then herself because she tries to help the kids when they're not feeling well and even though every baby of the putnums she delivered died she still had good intentions. Also she's the only one that knew that the kids where faking being bewitched when everybody else thought it was a spell.

Monday, September 26, 2011

mary warren

I think that Mary Warren is portrayed by many people as a good Puritan. She is always helping the Procter family and everyone else, But she isn't getting cridit for it. She knows that she is doing the right thing becasue she knows god is proud of her. I know that Marry is a good puritian becasue she is making all the right choices and being safe.

first amandment

I think that the first amandment is the most important. I think it is the most important because every one should be able to say whatever they want and also evryone shouldn't have to be forced to a certain religion, every american should be able to pick what they believe in and what they say.

Quarter 1, Week 5: The Bill of Rights

The first ten amendments in the Constitution are called the Bill of Rights.  These amendments protect individual freedoms so that the government cannot become to controlling of Americans' everyday lives.  First, visit the following link and read the Bill of Rights:

Then, explain which amendment YOU think is the most important.  Remember to explain why that amendment is the most important as well.

I think that Mary Warren is portrayed by many people as a "good Puritan." She is always helping the Procter family and everyone else. But she isn't getting cridit for it. But the truth is she is getting so much credit for it though God. God knows that she is doing good things so it really doesn't matter if other people know. Mary Warren is always staying true to being a Good Puritan, and always seems to be making the right choices. She always acts as a Godly women. Theses are some of the many reasons as to why i think Mary Warren is a Good Puritan.
I think Mary Warren because she helps the Proctors out by bringing them back information from the court. The reason why she is good is because the things she does for the Proctors, but the Proctors don't really give her any credit. This is who I think is a good Puritian.

Crucible

I think John Proctor is a "good puritan" because he portrays himself to be honest, speaks his mind. He also professes to believe in God, and it is important to him to have a good reputation to the town. Although he presents as a good puritan to the community, his actions are not so pure. We learn that he had an affair with Abigail, which indicates that he is not a good puritan morally. Instead of confessing his own bad behavior, he tries to go behind the scenes to cover up his sins.

Quarter 1 - Week 4:

We have talked about Puritans and the qualities of Puritans in both History and English. I would like you to choose a character from The Crucible  that you feel best embodies the qualities of a "good Puritan."  tell me the person who who choose and why you feel that person is a "good Puritan." This means that you need to include exmaples from the play to support your argument. *Just having one Puritanical quality wouldn't make you a "good Puritan" - be sure that the person you choose has many qualities.

American Revolution

I would also pick the Olive Branch Petition because it showed how the colonist were trying to settle this between the british in a peaceful way. Also, the petition was urging for peace between Britain and the colonies, then King George rejected it and if he did accecpt this could have stopped the whole American Revolution. I think this very important because this was the make or break in American Revolution because this Petition meant so much to the colonies, and then the king just said no with no accecptions and the colonies couldn't take the British anymore so they fight or do anything to get their inpendence.

The Quartering Act

The Quartering Act is when the British soliders were forced upon the Colonists who had to house them. Meaning giving them their food, beds and whatever they needed. Well other than the notes in which we have that says it was the last straw for them; They couldn't take the British living with them. First if they declined them they would die and if they did bring them in they would run out of supplies and money. No privicy and no supplies is not a good way to live. Shortly after this they stood up against the british so I really believe this was important in fact one of the most important Acts.
I would have to pick the boston tea party becasue if you think about all the tea that was poured into the Boston Harbor, there was so much money that could have been made off of all the tea. I think that if this happend to anyone they would get really pissed off, from all of the tea they were planning on selling and getting money, now they arent going to make any money.

Boston tea party

I think that the Boston Tea party was most significant. The Boston Tea Party was a protest against the British on tea imported by the American colonies. Colonists boarded British ships in Boston harbor and dumped the tea over the ships. I think that this is so significant because they lost SO much money and were never able to fully recover from it. It might seem crazy in today times, but back then it was such an insult and almost a slap in the face that the British had dumped so much money in tea, overboard. Also, they were never fully able to get British back and then British just wanted to call it quits, but we wanted payback. As prices started to go up, peoples income and money went down. There was no easy way to overcome what the British has done.

The Olive Branch Petition

I can honestly say that the Olive Branch Petition was a significant start lawson Colonial America, including the Tea, Stamp, and the infamous Intolerable Acts. After the colonists became ticked off at King George for all these laws, they had brought up the Olive Brach Petition, which was meant to convince George to stop these acts. With a brash response, George refused to agree with the colonists because they refused to follow the law, in an example (Boston Tea Party) shown weeks ago. George then sent in reinforcements to America, which begun the American Revolution.

Boston Tea Party

I would have to pick theBosto Tea Party becuase if you think about all of the money that was lost from he tea being dumped in the ocean. The reason why I picked this is becuase the only reason why theydumped the tea in the ocean is so that they wouldn't have to pay anymore taxes.

Revolution

Boston Massacre was when colonists was fighting with British soldiers over jobs and taxes. I think this is important because they killed unarmed colonists. It was a bloody massacre because five unarmed colonists were killed. Colonists only had snowballs, rocks, and sticks and the British had guns.

american revolution causes

I pick the Boston tea party because all that tea that was dumped into the Boston harbor lost a lot of money for the British government and let the colonist make there point which is that they where mad at the British government. Also I think the colonist did a good job doing what they did because if they didn't the British wouldn't get the message that the colonist don't like how they're being treated.

crucible response

The crucibles message to me isn't really one that I would take serious because it's really just an embarrassing moment in american history because the witch trails are based on lies made by children that over protective adults took way too seriously. I understand with the puritans that god and religion is a big thing with them but i don't understand why they couldn't see that the girls who made the claims of witchcraft where trying to get some attention.

Quarter 1, Week 3: Causes of the American Revolution

Over the next couple of days, we will be discussing the causes of the American Revolution.  For your blog post this week, explain which cause you think was most significant to the colonists' decision to fight for independence.  (HINT:  Define the cause you choose first, and THEN explain why it was so important.)  Happy Blogging!

I think this book is more of an universal book. i do think people thought this through too much. This was just someone trying to be diffrent and not be so lame. I do think that this play wasn't meant to be " bad: or anything but just to be creative and i don't think people liked that. I do like this play and think that this play is more universal.

9/11

I think it's important for people to remember what happend on 9/11 because after that a lot of thing changed. America became stronger. No one will ever forget that day. It was very sad because of how many innocent people died and none of those people deserved to die. It should be remembered both ways because a lot of thing happend that day and after.
I think people think that this play is "universal and Enduring." because there are so many parts in the play that just wouldn't happen today. For example in the time of the book they talk about witches and how there bad, but today we don't hear that often. The word Universal mean world wide and the word Enduring means lasting or durable. I think that people say that this play is "universal and Enduring" because of the message that is sent to the readers. The message is said to be "universal and Enduring" because its trying to teach a lesson. Some of the characters in the book lie and act fake to the church and the people they live around. The message in the book is just trying to teach lessons.

The Crucible

I think it means that any where in the world the story would matter to everybody. Also I think it means that the story would appeal to the audience for a long time.

Crucible Response

While reading the Crucible, people tend to say that this story is "universal and enduring", which means it is affecting the world and is long-lasting. They think that because people have used the methods (except the executions, rarely) that was used in the book. It almost reflects to the trials that happened in our courts of law (Casey Anthony trial, McMartin Preschool trial, etc.) and reflects to the punishments that have been given to those who were found guilty. The play's message, however, wasn't too sure about it, but I think of it as a reminder to all of us. Don't come to the conclusion of something that may be false, take the time to research what the source may be.

Crucible

In the 1600's they worried about their reputation. People blamed others for what they have done, to keep their good reputation. Same thing happens today, people lie, and blame other people for what they have done, they need to own up for their wrong doings and suffer the consequences. Also in the 1600's people were intolerant, people feared others if they were different. They would burn them to death or put them in prison just because they were different, they didn't do anything wrong. Today the same thing happens, even here at Fremd HS, if someone is different we would bully them, tease them and we don't include them. Even today we are still intolerant of people who are different.

Thursday, September 8, 2011

i think that it means that everybody who read the play got the idea that you should not blame people for your actions. also that you should not blame them for the way they look or act.

Quarter 1; Week 2 - Crucible Response

Eventhough we have just begun reading The Crucible,  you have learned quite a bit of background information on the Salem Witchtrials and the time period. Many people consider the play's message to be "Universal and Enduring."  Why do you think people would say that? What about the play's message makes it both of those things?

*If you aren't sure what either of those words means - look them up!

I think that it is important for people to remember Sept.11 because of all the lives that were taken away by the two planes that crashed into the towers. When everyone found out that two planes crashed I think that the whole United States was in shock. I think that one of the news channels
should have pictures of all the people that died to show everyone how much the world actually cares about them and how much their loved ones miss them. Also I think that someone should start a twin towers foundation to help raise a lot of money to help rebuild both of the towers. I also think the no one in the United States will ever forget what happend on Sept.11.

Remembering 9/11

I think it's important to remember what happened on Semptember 11 becuase of all those peoples lives that were taken away. I think one way to celebrate Semptember 11 would be to show all of those people that were killed in the plane on the news just for rememembrace. I think that our memories should be based on how American responed. The reason why i think this is becuase that when the planes hit that day we were all safe, so we should have been worried about those people on the planes rather than our selfs. What has happened since then, they had a rememberence for all of the people that had been killed. That is what I think what I think about 9/11.

September 11th

I think it is very important for Americans to remember what happened on September 11th because it was a day that we lost 100's of people. A lot of loved ones and close friends were lost that day. September 11th should be remembered by a day of silence or a day just dedicated to all the ones who died and all the important people who we lost. By having September 11th be a set day to represent those who died is an important way to show we care, and we stick together as a country. I think that the memories should be remembered both bu the events that happened that day and based on how Americans responded. We need to remember the love ones lost and we need to remember how other American's helped them out. The Americans not involved in September 11th really did help everyone else who was involved in it.

9/11

its important to remember 9/11 because it was a tradgic time for our country. this especially effected new york. the buildings were completed taken down. they had to struggle helping the people from the buring building. it is tradgic for the whole country beacuse it took away our sense of security. even in the airports, people were scared of terrorist attacks.
I think we should remember september 11 because it was a tragic day but it was a day where everyone came together. They came together and helped each other and they cried with each other for their loved ones. i also think that we should not think of the destruction that happened but on the good that happend and rememer the people that died with warmth and happiness.

9/11

I think it is important for people to remember this day because there was a lot of people who died on that day, and I think we should remember them on this day. I think people should have a day off on that day and pray for all the people that have died on 9/11. There was a lot of Americans who were affected by this. This day was a very sad day for all of us and we should pass this story down to younger people so can hear about this tragic day. We will not forget this day, we will not forget the people who died on this day, nor the people who took them from us.

Remembering September 11th

I think it's important for Americans to remember what happened on September 11th because it showed how weak we are but also brought use closer together to be stonger for our country and fight back. It should be remembered as day that the united states had face something really trgic to bring our country as one. Our memories shoudn't be what happened that on that day but how we responded because it showed how we can work together and won't bring our government or the united states down either and make a come back that no other country can compare to in our history. A lot of things has happened since that very sad day of 9/11 like security on planes and others things and how to stop this ever happening again so we will never feel like that again.

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

I think September 11th should be remembered, because if we dont remember it, it might just happen again. September 11th should be remembered by all of america taking time out of their day and talking about what happened on the day and how it effected all of us some way. Also what Americans could do is tell their little kids what happened and how we all need to be strong. every one should feel safe now but still be aware of what happened that day.
I think it's important for americans to remember september 11 because it was a tragic day for everybody that was there that day to witness it. It should be remembered as an attack on america and somthing that we can't forgive them for. Our memories should be based on how america america responded because thats when the whole thing about calling all people who look indain or hindu a terroist. Which isnt fair to all of them because they actullay don't like that kind of behavior.

September 11th Attacks Response

After watching the 9/11 attacks documentary, it left me in a state of shock to think that all of this was surreal, and still is after ten years. However, I believe it is important for Americans to remember what happened on 9/11 because other than a terrorist attack, killing at least 3,000 people, those who served America died that day, such as law enforcement, firemen, and civilians living in or around those towers that collapsed. I do believe also that our memories should be based on this day because most of the lives taken that day would keep counting up during the war in the Middle-East. This day served as a rememberance day for those who died during the attacks and those from breathing the debris. God bless America. :)
I think its important to remember September 11th because, it was a tragedy that brought all of us together and it was all over the news. i don't know about you but whenever i think or hear " September 11th" i think of all the people who died that day. How we remember this day is different for everyone. I think that this day should be remembered for the event and how we responded to this. It shows that a big event like this can bring America together and as one. we still have signs and services to remember those who died that day. Everything that has happened this day , the planes crashing, people looking hoping that their loved one made it out okay have a big roll on how we think about this day. When we watched that video in class we all started remembering how people took this all in, yes we where small but once we saw it again we all saw what a big upset in time this was. September 11th will always be remembered as a day of sadness and the people who got killed that day.

Quarter 1, Week 1: Remembering September 11th

Think about the September 11th documentary that we watched in class, and visit the following website:

http://www.911-remember.com/

Why do you think it is important for Americans to remember what happened on September 11th?  In addition, how exactly should it be remembered?  Should our memories be based on the events that happened that day, or based on how America responded and what has happened since then?  Explain why in a paragraph of at least 6 to 8 sentences.
