ordinary people

I think that ordinary people are just your basic everyday person. They have a routine that they do every day, and nothing ever changes. Ordinary people I think are married and have a small family, they live in a normal two story house, in the suburbs. The family is friends with all of their neighbors, they like having block parties. I think that both of the parents work, the dad works at wells fargo, and the mom is a school teacher at their local middle school.

My Lai

If i was in the war in My Lai and my officer told me to kill civilians, i would want to say i wouldn't do it but thinking about it at the time of war and in battle id probably end up doing it since my leader told me to and i wouldn't be thinking about what the other people had told me. i know this sounds awful but I'm thinking about this honestly and that's what i would probably end up doing if i was in a war and i couldn't tell who was fighting and who wasn't in the war. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this way either.

Quarter 4, Week 5: My Lai Massacre

If you were part of the military and had received orders to harm civilians, like at My Lai, how would you respond?  Explain your answer.

Shout out to Kenny for coming up with the blog topic for this week!

I believe that ordinary people are poeple who have calm normal lives. Someone who strives for what everyone else wants and someone who likes to keep it safe. Someone who lives off probability and is realistic. The average home in which this person lives in is in a family focused area and with the every day car. This person doesn't drink nor smoke and I would say thinks that work is important. Family night is on friday and take out is only once a week. Dinner on the table at 7:00pm followed by light reading and T.V. Falling alseep at 11:30pm after a iced glass of homemade lemonade, if at times this person wants to have a pleasure he woul make Strawberry lemonade and have TWO glasses. He then sleeps until he repeats this all over again.
To me an ordinary person doesn't have to live in a specific place, or have certain friendships, they just have to live. Nobody on this Earth is ordinary everybody has their own issues, everybody has that one thing that always makes us smile. I don't a definition for ordinary and honestly don't think there is one.
I think an ordinary person is someone who repeatedly settles for society's expectations. Some people settle          for less then what they deserve. Its like seeing a pattern in your life. A person who doesn't stand out in crowd. Also it can mean that is is simple or normal in your life.
In my opinion I see ordinary people as normal people, with a normal life. These people live in an an ordinary home(average sized). An ordinary job would be like a store manager, sale person, construction worker, ect. A relationship would be married with 3 or 4 kids and a happy life. And there goals would be to live a happy life and grow up living a good life.

Ordinary People

Based on the title i think this book is going to be about your every day person. An every day person is  not rich nor poor, not different nor the same. An every day person is the "norm". An ordinary person can live any where. I picture them to live in a middle class house. I think an ordinary person would have a job like a waiter, or just work at the park distract. I think and ordinary person is close with their families, and friends. I think just like many people, they have many conflicts.

Ordinary

I think an ordinary people is someone who has a good paying job and a good house in which he lives in and some of his family. He does not lie about who he/she  his just so people can like him/her or to make him look like a cool guy/girl. He is just himself/herself who is not too rich but still has some money. He/she does not have a lot of problems but he/she still can't find the right person who cares him/her the same way.

Ordinary people.

To me, an ordinary person is one who doesnt exhagurate the way they live, one who doesnt lie about who they truly are, but present themselves in a normal manner. an ordinary person is one who doesnt have too much of something or too little of something. they simply live life with whatever they have. An Ordinary person is an average person, not perfect, but normal.

ordinary people

an ordinary person to me is somebody that just do things out of the ordinary. or a person that way diffrent from others but does not know it.

New book!

I think for the new book to be Ordinary, what sticks out to me is being different. most people might say it means to be " normal" but i think its to be " weird " or soothing along those lines. maybe even someone with a mental problem!! that would be kinda cool to read about to read about someone who lives in a mental hospital and how they go about day to day. when i first read this blog post that was the first thing that came to mind.

Ordinary People

As a precursor to Ordinary People, we should attempt to establish what is classified as ordinary.  Based on the title, what comes to mind - what do you think makes up an ordinary person?  What kind of place do they live in? What kind of job do they have? Relationships? Conflict? Goals?  Explain.

In my opinion I think Kennedy should be remembered as a good president. We all know he did drugs and some other things that a president wouldn't do but he still was a great president. JFK was able to stop the Cuban Missile Crisis from happening. He also made great decisions for the US. These are some of the reasons why I think JFK was a good president.

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Although JFK made a lot of mistakes, i think he should be remembered as a good president. He was addicted to drugs, and i don't think that hiding his Addison disease made him a bad president what so ever. By hiding his disease, he was just trying to help the people. He didn't want them to think differently about him, he was still the same person. He was very good at talking to the people. People wanted to listen to him, and hear his speeches

JFK

I think JFK should be remembered as a good president for a couple of different reasons. The first reason why I think he should be remembered as a good president is because he cared about the people, he made decisions that were good for us and not just him. Also he was very good at giving speeches in front of a ton of people. Lastly I think if JFK was not our president we wouldn't be living in this great of world as we do now.

John F. Kennedy

In my opinion i believe that Americans should remember John F. Kennedy as a good president, despite the bad decisions he made like doing drugs. First of all JFK was a caring person , he cared about the people in America and wanted to make the right choices that was best for everyone. He was a good speech giver which is something that's very important when it comes to being the president. He knew how to get the people on his side and convince them about everything he was planning to do. Another thing is he didn't like having enemies from different countries, because he'd knew that could put the U.S in danger. He liked to make compromises with others, so that America would be safe and there would be no threats. He did whatever he could to avoid any possible wars.

John F. Kennedy

In my opinion I believe that president Kennedy was not our best. Though he did love his country there were many problems he had as a young president. He was addicted to so many drugs he had multiple doctors he would see just to get whatever he could including painkillers and stimulants, to treat various medical conditions during his presidencyKennedy was also a very well known ladies man. i don't think man would want to look up to this kind of person even worse knowing he was our former president of the United States. This is why i believe Kennedy was not a good president.

John F. Kennedy

I think John F. Kennedy was an awesome president. You don't judge a president by what his life is but how he did while being president. He did a lot of things like preventing a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. It does not matter how he stopped the war, what matters is that he stopped it. He also stopped the conflict with Cuba. Although the missiles were from the Soviet Union, Cuba could still launch the missiles without the Soviet Union knowing about it. I understand that a president using drugs created a bad image, but it's not like he chose to do them. He needed them to survive and to stop the agony he suffered every single day of his life. I am pretty sure if you were president and had those same symptoms Kennedy had you would be using those drugs too if it aliviated the pain. That's why i think John F. Kennedy was an awesome president.

JFK

In my opinion, I thought JFK did a excellent job during his short-lived term as president. I'm not saying he was a bad president, but he made choices behind doors that were really poor. For example, Kennedy became addicted to enphetamies, a drug disguised as vitamins, were really tearing him apart. This also improved his sex drive, which lead him to have a rumored affair with Marilyn Monroe. Despite all that, he was the sole reason for stopping the Cuban Missile Crisis. If it weren't averted, our future would of been bleak. He was also the person who built shaky bridges with Cuba and Soviet Russia. Nonetheless, he's the reason why we're alive today.

John F. Kennedy

I don't think Kennedy was a bad president, i do think the things he did that the outsiders didn't know wouldnt have been so good, but yet again we don't know everything that goes on in the presidents life. Kennedy did a good job at keeping his cool and not flipping out, while keeping America safe. Yes, he had a drug problem but in the end if he wasn't of drugs how good or bad of a president would he have been? If Americans knew what Kennedy was on he wouldn't of been voted for and Nixon would of been Elected.

Stories

I think when Kiowa died was a big part, because he was the glue for everyone and his death hit others harder but it still had a big impact. i think it was just a big impact on all the people in the group and still people feel bad and feel sad about his death. when someone dys , and 20 or something years later people are still feeling sad about it or guilt the person who died must of had a big impact in their lives and did a lot to make someones life change.

Quarter 4, Week 3: Kennedy's Legacy

In your opinion, should John F. Kennedy be remembered by Americans today as a good president or a bad president?  Explain your answer using specific examples of people, events, etc. that helped you form your decision.

Norman Bowker because he told us about his story how when he came back from the war he didn't have anyone anymore, and that was really sad. I could imagine it in my head, how he would be feeling and how sad everything is for him. The war was not easy for him, he lost family and friends. Very sad.

I think That the most interesting person in this story is Norman Bowker. His story was very inspiring. I wish he would have saw the light at the end of the tunnel, instead of taking his own life. When they talk about Norman they really stress how he was feeling, and it was easy to connect too. Norman had so many people there for him, then when he came home he felt so alone.

Norman Bowker

In every book that you read there is always just that one thing in the book that just stays on your mind. The one thing that stuck on my mind from the book was Norman Bowker's story. His story tells you what the war is really like, how it affects you in so many different ways, what it makes your brain think like, and also their life when they return home after the war. Norman had to see his best friends die right in front of him. Also when Norman came home there was no one there for him, no one to support him, and no one to care for him, so he took away his own life. This was the story that had the most impact on me.
I think that the part of the book that really stuck to me was about Norman Bowker. The reason why is because when i was reading it a got a picture of what he was like. And also got a picture of the life he was living. He was a very lonely person, because when he came back to the war he didn't have anybody. And that was the reason why he had hung himself. So this was the most interesting part of the book that was interesting to me.

Marry Anne.

The story that made an impact on me was that one of Marry Anne. Before Mary Anne came to Vietnam to visit her boyfriend, she was innocent and no one knew that she would change, but as time passed she turned into a monster and disappeared and no one knows what happened to her. To me, this takes me back at that point in life when I came to America. I was innocent and I didn't know how to get around, I thought that people were going to walk over me & treat me different, but now I got used to it and people cant tell the difference that I wasn't born here because now the system comes to me naturally. I also became strong and street smart because I learned a lot of things here on how to approach people and how to get around in a new country.

The Civil Rights Movement.

I think that Martin Luther King was one of the people that impacted the civil right movement because he had that great personality that when he talked, people listened. To the advantage of that, he had great ideas on how blacks would gain their freedom and when he put plans on the table, people approached him with a positive attitude and they were determined to make a change.

Stories

The story that has greatly made an impact on me is the Norman Bowker story. This story has made an impact on me because it shows the full effects of the war after it's over. It also shows what the soldier goes through when returning home and how hard life is when trying to get back in motion of things after you come from a bloody war. This story shows the difficulties of trying to find something meaninful in life to do for the rest of your life, but he can't find it. In the end he could not take the loneliness and the sense of no direction and he took his own life. That is why i think this story made an impact on me.

martian Luther kings speech

I think that martian Luther kings speech is the most important thing that happened during civil rights time. His speech was very inspirational to everybody that supported civil rights and actually looking for a change. He was taking nicely about his enemies and people that didn't like what he supported. He always talked like a preacher so that helped him talk in
a big crowd. He believed in nonviolent protest which also worked for some people because it made their attackers look ridiculous so this helped him lead by example.

Quarter 4, Week 2 - The Things They Carried

In The Things They Carried, each chapter is a new story, elaborating on different characters within the war. So far, which story has most profoundly affected you? In other words, which story do you find most interesting? Explain why using details from the text.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

I think Martin Luther King Jr's speech was very important because he made our world better by giving an amazing speech. It changed peoples lives and it changed a lot of things that won't be here now. This man stood up for what he believed for and gave a speech. We should all be like him one day, this guy was a brilliant man.

Little Rock 9

I think the Little Rock 9 was the biggest impact on this time era, because it showed that we aren't messing around know and we want to take action and we want to make a change. Starting with the schools was a good idea because if you think about it, if we can get the teenagers to get into it and want to be friends with the blacks and make a difference then the parents will want to do it. they would think " if my own kid can do it so can i" this is why i think that the Little Rock 9 was the biggest impact.

Martin Luther King Jr.

I believe that Martin Luther King Jr's speech was the most important. I believe this because MLK was known for being the leader of the civil rights movement and when he addressed this speech to the country, a lot of people came and agreed with what he had to say, although he was assassinated, I believe that himself and his speech had the biggest impact on the civil rights movement.
I think Emmett Till really made an great impact. Because of everything that happened to him people were motivated to fight for their rights. To see that there was a major problem and that they had to fix it. If it weren't for his murder it would have been more likely that nothing that was going on at the time was ever going to change.
In my opinion I think that Martin Luther King was the most significant. Because he made such a bigger impact on people rather than anyone else. If you think about it his dream came truth about the blacks. He made a change rather some of the other people did. And these are the reasons why i think that MLK was the most significant impact on the movement.
I think that MLK had a very significant impact on the movement as a whole. MLK was such a powerful man, and an amazing hero. So many people looked up to him, and wanted to be like him. He had so many valid points, and good speeches. I think if it weren't for MLK speaking up. no one would have. MLk was a huge part of moving forward.

M.L.K. Jr (I Have A Dream)

I think that M.L.K. Jr. had the greatest impact on the movement because he was of his powerful speech "I Have A Dream". His "Dream" was for the white and the black to be treated equally. His "Dream" was for everyone to be free. I personally think that if M.L.K. Jr. did not say the "I Have A Dream" speech we wouldn't be living in this type of world, i think people would still be saying a lot of racism.

Little Rock 9

The controversy at Little Rock 9 was a very significant impact on the Civil Rights Movement. This was because the African Americans became aware of racism & segregation in their community. Segregation, in this case, is a very good example of this event. What happened, however, was a two day event where a black girl attended an all-white colored school, which was brought to President Eisenhower's attention. He then called in the National Guard, in which this became a big deal within the nation. Moreover, this was only a beginning to a very controversial time, full of physical and verbal violence.

Martin L. King

I think the person who had the greatest impact was Martin Luther King becaus he was the leader of the civil Rights Movement, everyone looked up to him. He was a preacher and everyone loved him. He graduated from college which meant he was smart and believed everyone should be free. He also believed in protesting without violence. That is why i think he made the greatest impact on the Civil Rights Movement.

Quarter 4, Week 1: The Civil Rights Movement

This week in class we will be studying the Civil Rights Movement.  Of all of the important people and events that we discussed, which do you think had the most significant impact on the movement as a whole?  Explain your answer.
