1950's

A really significant event from the 1950's does not have to do with government, or the Segregation complications. This has to do with the suburban areas. This proved to be a big step into a new lifestyle, one that was different from city life. New technology, like washing and drying machines, lawn mowers, and television sets, paved the way to new futures. This also became a huge step from the Great Depression, due to the fact America made so much profit after World War II. The term "Keeping Up with the Jones'" became used in lifestyles, mostly because families want to compete being on par with other familes, buying material things to be the same. It's almost a creepy thought, to be honest.
