Reflecting Back to 1st Semester
When I look back at 1st semester, I see the Battle of Gettysburg as a very important event. The Battle of Gettysburg was a battle fought in the Civil War in 1863. I believe that the Battle of Gettysburg was the greatest event that we learned about last semester because it was the main turning point for the Union in the civil war after they defeated Robert E. Lee's confederate army. I also think that the Battle of Antietam was another very important event. The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest battle fought in the civil war at Antietam Creek September 17th, 1862. There were so many casualties for both sides that they determined the battle as a draw. When people saw the photographs of Antietam, it made them realize how brutal and tragic war really was.
